Best for high school students with little or no programming experience and for advanced junior high students. Each contest consists of an online 30-minute, 5-question short answer test and an online programming problem to solve in 72 hours.

This is a course that combines Reading, Analysis, and Writing short responses on British and Northern Europe history and Myths. 

A Myth is a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events. Studying those will help students understand some social phenomena that even impact today's world conflicts. Those knowledge will help students working on social study essay writing in middle and high school.

World Mythology is a compilation of over 50 great myths and epics. Your students will gain an appreciation and understanding of ancient and modern cultures through myths and epics from the Middle East, Greece and Rome, the Far East and Pacific islands, the British Isles, Northern Europe, Africa, and the Americas. An introduction and historical background supplement each myth. Questions at the end of each selection prompt analysis and response.

Reflective Writing builds on analysis by considering the learning you’ve gained from practical experience. The purpose of the reflection is to help you to make improvements for the future and, as such, it is a more ‘personal’ form of academic writing often using the first person. Evidence still has a key role in reflective writing; it’s not just about retelling your story and how you felt. And evidence in the case of reflection will include your own personal experience which adds to the discussion. Reflective writing focuses on future improvements and answers questions like ‘what next?’
